The school car park needed to be sectioned-off using child friendly perimeter fencing
Darfen Solution
Having recently created new car parking spaces at the school it was important for both teachers and parents that the new car park was kept apart from the rest of the school grounds.
Bow top self raking railings were chosen by the school because of their rounded edges. This system is often used for car parks and also for pedestrian control. Specifying this system for the perimeter of the new car park at St Augustine’s was a safe solution compared with some other systems as the rounded top edges meant that they were not a hazard to pupils at the school. The self raking railings are self-adjusting; therefore they effortlessly coped with the ground undulations on site.
Having undertaken a site survey Darfen found that the new car park was particularly close to play areas, in order to minimise the need for children to enter the car park at any time, Darfen installed mesh at the bottom of the entrance gates in order to prevent balls rolling underneath during playtime.
Overall Darfen have provided a safe perimeter solution which has not only been cost effective for the school but has provided a child friendly environment.
