Project Focus: Waitrose Shopping Centre

November 2009
Equipment Installed
- 637mtrs of Ecohoard Re-Plas
- 3 x pedestrian gates
- 3 x double leaf gate
Client Goals
In order to satisfy the best practice BREEAM guidelines for sustainable buildings the client required a temporary fencing system which was not only made out of sustainable sources, but also provided a secure perimeter.
Darfen Solution
Darfen offers a range of eco friendly temporary fencing systems within the Ecohoard range of environmentally friendly fencing products.
The Ecohoard RE-Plas system was recommended to the client as it could easily be made out of the supermarkets own recycled carrier bags and it would help Waitrose further demonstrate their commitment to the environment.
The Waitrose development is working towards achieving a BREEAM rating whereby the development is recognised as a sustainable building. The products used in developments of this type need to be sustainable and as the Ecohoard RE-Plas system is made from recycled sources and also 100% recyclable it has proved to be an effective solution to secure the site perimeter whilst being eco friendly.
The RE-Plas hoarding has been installed on site and by using laminated banners Waitrose have been able to advertise the products which will be available to buy in the new store. The RE-Plas will be on site for the duration of the build and can then be used to build the next new Waitrose store, or recycled.
The ecohoard range of products is suitable for supermarket new builds, extensions or refurbishments as well as other applications such as building sites, concerts, event or any site needing semi-permanent security fencing.
