Skanska, being one of the world's leading construction companies and having responsibility to their own staff and the general public, required a temporary hoarding system that would protect the passing public and also meet strict CDM regulations.
Darfen Solution
Walsall Manor Hospital is a £162 million redevelopment which started back in 2007. Over the past four years, Darfen Hoardings have been the sole supplier of temporary hoarding.
Darfen was the first company in the UK to introduce steel hoarding to the fencing industry over ten years ago and is one of very few systems that has been tested and proven to withstand wind speeds of up to 50mph.
At the start of the project, Skanska specified Darfen Steelhoard as the most suitable hoarding solution to protect passing public because of its wind loading calculations and because the product is durable and can be taken down & re-erected very quickly and easily stored on site until needed.
As well as benefiting from 50mph wind loading, Darfen worked with Skanska to further enhance safety by supplying 5mm section posts (rather then the 2mm thick standard).
